San José, a special river – San José, un río especial

Emblematic for many local fly fishermen, the San José is truly a special river. There are already several generations of sports trout fishermen who have developed their arts in its fresh and oxygenated waters that come mostly from the high peaks of Cordoba. I remember having participated in laborious days of rainbow trout stocking upriver from San Clemente, a picturesque mountain town through which the San José passes. We used the efficient Whitlock Vibert boxes, fingerling incubators that we deposited on low, smooth runs with the precious load of embryonated eggs. I also remember the satisfaction of seeing the high degree of efficiency of the system when, after a while, we removed them.

I share here some photos of my recent fishing in the San José at the end of the past season, this beautiful river is always on my agenda. Enjoy!

Emblemático para muchos mosqueros locales el San José es verdaderamente un río especial. Son varias ya las generaciones de pescadores deportivos de truchas que han desarrollado sus artes en sus frescas y oxigenadas aguas que provienen en su gran mayoría de las altas cumbres cordobesas. Recuerdo haber participado en laboriosas jornadas de siembra de truchas arco iris río arriba de San Clemente, un pintoresco poblado serrano por donde el San José pasa. Usábamos las eficientes cajas Whitlock Vibert, incubadoras de alevines que depositábamos en correderas bajas y suaves con la preciosa carga de ovas embrionadas. Recuerdo también la satisfacción de ver el alto grado de eficiencia del sistema cuando, después de un tiempo las retirábamos.
